Comparison between a 5-story building with COFFOR design
(load-bearing wall) and frame design is given.

Besides the well known advantages of wall-bearing design from a structural point of view as the number of columns is reduced from 40 columns with frame design to 5 columns with COFFOR.

One can also see that the living space is greater with COFFOR .

  The attached drawings are:

Structural drawing with COFFOR design
Architectural drawing with frame (column and beam) design
Structural drawing with frame (column and beam) design

A cost comparison with the two designs can be done taking into account the specific cost and local conditions.

The parameters that should be provided are:
• cost of concrete per m3
• cost of rebar per kg
• cost of labor per hour
• cost of hollow core frame and bricks for floor per m2
• cost of 7-10 cm brick wall (material and labor)

When all parameters are taken into account it is possible to calculate approximately the cost savings with COFFOR and the time savings with COFFOR compared to traditional frame structure.
